Dead Rising 2: 7,000 Zombies A Go-GO
Capcom finally revealed some gameplay for the highly anticipated sequel to the cult favorite Dead Rising. In development for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Dead Rising 2’s engine has been rebuilt from the ground up with support for up to 7,000 zombies on screen. The horribly named main character Chuck Greene is also a biker so vehicles will play a bigger role in the sequel. The preview seems to indicate that weapons can now be combined as Chuck runs through a sea of zombies with chainsaws attached to his motorbike’s handlebars. The preview is definitely worth the read so I encourage all fans of the undead to go check it out. No word yet on co-op but my fingers are still crossed.

No commentsMarvel vs. Capcom 2 on XBL,PSN this Summer
In what is easily one of the worst kept secrets in recent video game history, Capcom has finally officially announced Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network. All MvC2 purists can let out a sigh of relief given the fact that the game is built on the Dreamcast version, easily the best of the console ports. It will also ship with an HD upscale mode for super sharp sprites, a widescreen option and an online mode. Best of all, the online multiplayer is built around the critically acclaimed net code for Super Street Fighter II: HD Turbo Remix and will bring back the fan favorite Quarter mode and lobby system with leaderboards to top it off. All 56 characters will be available from the start so fans can jump right in with no need to waste time unlocking characters. A demo will be available this Thursday, April 30th on the Playstation Network(sorry 360 owners, no demo announcement for XBL). Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be available this summer and can be yours(and definitely mine) for $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points.

iGame2 took a trip down to comic con here in NYC and I must say that it is definitely getting bigger every year. This was the first year with a very strong video game presence and there were enough controllers spread throughout the show floor to keep any gamer happy. While the booths and booth babes aren’t up to E3 standards, there was a definite effort made amongst the companies that participated. Atari’s Ghostbusters booth had an ice sculpture in the middle of a marshmallow covered cityscape and Activision’s green screen for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 was a big hit amongst the attendees. Hit the jump for more details.
No comments2009 Gaming Resolutions
2008 was a grand year for gaming. With so many AAA titles released, the Game of The Year award never looked so crowded. Gears of War 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, Resistence 2, and Metal Gear Solid 4 just to name a few. 2008 was a great year to be a gamer, albeit a very broke one. As we are all creating our new year’s resolutions for 2009, I think its time that this culture we call gaming did the same.

New Metal Gear?!

Konami has officially posted an official teaser on their official site…officially. While 360 owners may think X marks the spot for an MGS4 port due to the presence of a green power button, I dare to differ. Exhibit A: To the untrained eye it may seem that the teaser is written in green. Or it could be written in Acid green. Exhibit B: The i could be referring to the iphone and the exclamation point is not only an iconic gesture in the MGS universe, it is also the i in the official title for Metal Gear Ac!d. Coincidence…I think not. The url for the teaser contains mgst in the url. Metal Gear Solid Touch, anyone? But of course, speculation only leads to more speculation. So how about we patiently wait with our hands on our laps like the good gamers we all are.

No commentsIntroducing Nick
Greetings, Internet. I’m Nick (a.k.a. StittyMan) and The Wire’s administrator has invited me to write for this blog. As it’s my first official web journalism assignment, I’m thrilled to help.
Hopefully, you’re also thrilled to read what I have to say.
Gaming has always been a major focus in my life. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in them. I cut my teeth on the good ol’ NES, and as I grew up and stretched my developmental tendrils into life’s finer points, I found a love for writing alongside my game addiction. Commentary, mostly. Now 25, i’ve finished my English BA and am passionately interested in all facets of the game industry; design, marketing, cultural influence, history, you name it.
Often, my friends stop me, reminding me I’m preaching about the future of Mario Kart with the passion of a crack addict.
Thank goodness for that backspace key. Periodically (per the admin’s salute) I’ll be posting essays and commentary on all sorts of video game topics. I should have the first piece up shortly.
In the meantime, I await your feedback and comments. I’ve set up stittyman@gmail.com exclusively for contact, so I’m opening the table for questions, concerns, or discussion topics. Please, ask away. And don’t make me regret saying that.
