Most of you reading this blog have already seen the trailer and heard the announcement. Gears of War 2 will be released this November 2008. I fully expect it to hit within this window. Microsoft will not allow it to slip and neither will Epic. Expect to see all the neat tricks shown in Epic’s technology demo to show up in Gears of War 2. I am really looking forward to more details at E3 this may and maybe Cliffy showcasing a hands on demo. Also that trailer wasn’t just a teaser. Expect the clashing chainsaws to make it into the game in one form or another. I would assume that when 2 chainsaws clash a timed minigame will appear, similar to active reloading in Gears of War. Well only one way to find out and that is to play the waiting game. 9 months and counting…

I am really looking forward to an announcement of EPIC proportions this week at GDC ‘08. Maybe as soon as later today. The Gears of War novel entitled Gears of War: The Pendulum Wars–The Battle of Aspho Fields is scheduled to be released February 28th. Microsoft has yet solidified their Big Hit for the year. Gears of War sold over 4.5 Million Copies. If my knowledge serves me correct The first raw footage of what soon became Gears of War was shown at GDC 2005. The action figures are releasing this spring. Its just time. What better way to advance sales on Unreal Engine 3 and keep the hype running that announcing the sequel at GDC. Its really early in the year and it is the perfect time to drop that first snowflake that will soon snowball into an unstoppable sphere of hype.
